I was introduced to Youth for Christ in approximately 2002, when the former Executive Director developed a partnership relationship with the church I was attending. Due to the age of my children, I became very interested in the work of the organization and was one of the initial steering committee members dedicated to bringing a full chapter back to the Des Moines area. I have been involved with YFC ever since, and am currently serving as the Board Chairman. I was blessed to grow up in a Christian home; but never really appreciated the great need for reaching outside the local church to make Christ known to the many young people in our community who have not been so blessed. Youth for Christ has opened my eyes and my faith continues to grow as a see the great work of our staff and volunteers. I have been married to my wife Heidi for over 20 years and we have been blessed with four lovely children, ranging in age from 13 to 20 yrs. I am an attorney with Sullivan & Ward, P.C. in West Des Moines and our family attends Meredith Drive Reformed Church.

I was blessed to be introduced to Central Iowa YFC through Joel Swanson, YFC’s Campus Life Director, in 2011.  I continue to be inspired by YFC’s vision in reaching every young person, everywhere, and presenting them the opportunity to make an informed decision to be a follower of Jesus Christ.  I have been able to see the outpouring of love and dedication by each of the staff members first hand as a volunteer at Middle School Club, as well as a parent who’s children have grown in their walk with Christ while participating in Campus Life programs.
I had an incredible experience participating in the youth group of the church that I attended from the time I was a child until I was a young adult.  It was there that I knew the impact that Christ would have on my life, as well as what it meant to have great leaders to lead me down the correct path.
I have been married to my wife, Cheryl since 1994, and we have two wonderful daughters, Kaitlin, and Rachel.  I have worked for Heart of America Group since 1986, and I am currently the Chief Operating Executive of their Holiday and Inn and Suites in West Des Moines, as well as the Director of IHG Operations for our hotel group.  Our family attends Walnut Creek Church in Johnston.

I was very fortunate to be raised in a Christian home where I was blessed greatly. I have been involved from the sidelines for YFC for about 7 years since meeting Joel Swanson and Matt Mayse. Joel coached several of my children in soccer and Matt was a YFC Campus Life Coordinator at Johnston where several of my children attended school. I have seen first hand the results of YFC on the lives of so many kids in Central IA. After seeing the effects on my kids lives and on the many kids that YFC serves, it was an honor to be called to serve on this board. I attended South East Polk High School, and then DMACC and Simpson College. During my college years I was a youth counselor for Campus Crusade for Christ at East High School, and a Big Brother for Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Central IA. My wife Pam and I have been married for 21 years, we have 4 kids (Hailey, Alec, Bryson, Zach). I have coached youth basketball & football teams and enjoy hosting our church youth group and teach a pre-teen Sunday school class at the brethren fellowship we attend in Pleasant Hill IA. I have worked for several Silicon Valley technology companies over my career and currently run a sales team in the central US for Symantec Corporation.

In 2005, I was introduced to Youth for Christ through Grace Church where my family attends. We served pancakes each month at East High School. I came to know Christ as my savior in 2001 and was thrilled to be able to proclaim Him in a public school. I am passionate about the mission of Youth for Christ and look forward to seeing how the Lord will grow this ministry in Des Moines. My husband Andy and I have two sons. Our oldest attends ISU and our youngest is at Des Moines Christian, where I work as the Marketing Manager.
